How do we transform schools?

I just read an article a research article in Education Next ( Clayton Christensen & Michael Horn, Summer 2008) called “How do we transform schools?” . The theme of this article is increasingly prevalent in research on technology and student learning….it IS NOT about the STUFF….laptops, desktops, web-cams, handhelds…..it IS about pedagogy, pedagogy, pedagogy….technology can be an extraordinarily powerful tool to help students learn when used thoughtfully and purposefully focused on the individual learning needs of students.

A professional goal I have is to work on focusing our professional discourse towards learning strategies for all our students, whenever and wherever, they have Internet access. I look forward to our network being fixed and our educational leaders being empowered with the tools to support this discourse.

Since I first posted this a teacher/friend of mine shared this news story with me advocating for laptops for his entire class as his instructional repertoire is ready….our paradigm is shifting :-)
